Analysis What to expect from a third Moon-Kim summitNext month's meeting will see both Koreas seek to restore momentum to a faltering diplomatic process
The news this week that South Korean President Moon Jae-in will visit Pyongyang in September for a third inter-Korean summit reasserted the prominent role of the two Koreas in driving Korean peninsula diplomacy.
The announcement also reflects a commitment in the joint declaration following the April Panmunjom summit, and marks the beginning of several weeks and months likely to be dominated by inter-Korean, rather than U.S.-DPRK, diplomacy.
But how exactly will another inter-Korean summit make a difference in September? Could we see any substantive results – or will the summit appear more symbolic in nature?
