South Korea’s National Intelligence Service (NIS) recently released a collection of more than 120 new North Korean legal texts in two volumes, a dramatic increase from a 2020 collection that only featured a handful of changes.

The new collection reflects a dramatic increase in new DPRK laws since 2020, in line with increasing transparency in state media about such rules and regulations.

The laws themselves paint an interesting picture of recent developments, revealing everything from efforts to combat battery and physical violence to stronger punishments for hiding deficits in reports.
