Analysis The Tehran connection: North Korea’s latest missile testRecent launches suggest exchange of missile expertise between Iran and North Korea The recent launch of three ballistic missiles in North Korea (coinciding with the G20 summit in China) was the first time that we saw a new type of warhead of the Rodong missile – the same design that was spotted in Iran in June 2010. At the time, I named it the Iranian warhead “NRV” (New Re-entry Vehicle), and it was the third configuration of the Shahab 3 (which in turn is identical to the NK Rodong missile).
