The gathering took place just days after North Korea test-fired what looks to be its first intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM). As concern over North Korea’s weapons development hit a crescendo, it seemed inevitable that some form of enhanced cooperation would coalesce. Some experts predicted that the G20 meeting could spark momentum towards a meaningful international response to the North Korea threat, above and beyond continued sanctions and condemnation.
