North Korea accused South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol of elevating tensions through hostile rhetoric and recent military drills this week, defending its recent artillery fire as a response to Seoul’s “belligerent bombast.”

Kim Jong Un sent a wreath to the funeral of Kim Kyong Ok, a former military officer known to have helped guide the second hereditary leadership succession in North Korea.

Pyongyang also indirectly weighed in on the result of Taiwan’s presidential election this week, voicing support for China’s “One China” policy following the victory of a pro-sovereignty candidate.
