Updated satellite imagery and photos taken from Dandong show North Korea’s newly opened tourist zone at Sinuiju, which allows Dandong residents to make visa free day trips to the DPRK.

The images show that much of the work on zone was completed between March and September last year, including a 180 meter-long building facing the water front.

“They almost finished building that one (by October last year) … that building is for tourists,” Lee Chang-ju, a PhD candidate at Fudan University, who studies the Sino-North Korea border area told NK News.
