Evergreen Pyongyang construction project still stalled: PhotosProject suspended, possibly due to proximity to nearby subway line A large downtown Pyongyang construction project which ground to a halt in 2013 remains stalled, pictures obtained by NK News and satellite imagery show. Originally reported to be a seven star hotel and casino called the Yonggwang (영광호텔, meaning “glory”) hotel, sources in Pyongyang recently indicated to NK News the project was instead destined to be a convention center. The building’s proximity to both the Koryo hotel, which is immediately adjacent, and the Yonggwang Metro Station support the theory. The nearby subway is also rumored to be the reason why construction halted, not a © Korea Risk Group. All rights reserved. |
