Unlike the May and August launch attempts, this one was apparently successful, inserting the Malligyong-1 military reconnaissance satellites into a sun-synchronous orbit, according to DPRK state media. The North Korean satellite’s operational status has yet to be independently verified by external space situational awareness capabilities but could mark a turning point in North Korea’s decadeslong space ambitions.
