News North Korean work to connect China’s “bridge to nowhere” slows down: imagerySatellite imagery shows hardened-dirt roadway to Sinuiju infrastructure is complete, but awaiting asphalt North Korean efforts to connect a $350 million suspension bridge partially completed in 2013 but never opened have appeared to slow significantly since December, high-resolution satellite imagery indicates. That’s despite initially rapid progress, which between September and December 2019 saw a pathway cleared and hardened-dirt roadway laid to connect the bridge to a national highway south of Sinuiju.
