North Korea’s textile export earnings hit yearly highs in July, data from Chinese customs showed on Wednesday, two months prior to the UN Security Council (UNSC) adding the DPRK’s last high earning export to a list of prohibited goods.

The UNSC passed resolution 2375 on September 11 in response to the DPRK’s sixth nuclear test eight days earlier. While some provisions included in the draft version were softened, the textile ban made it passed the negotiations.
