North Korean state media on March 3 reported that Kim Jong Un on the previous day visited “Korean People’s Army [KPA] frontline long-range artillery subunits’ firepower strike training site” and guided their “live-shell firing exercise.”
The report described the weapons launched during the drill as “ordnance rockets”; photos published in the party daily and on the website of the North Korean official news agency KCNA (kcna.kp) showed multiple rocket launch systems (MRLS). The South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) on March 2 said North Korea had fired two short-range ballistic missiles.
