News North Korean imports of Chinese gasoline jump in SeptemberKITA figures show gasoline imports increased, not jet-fuels as reported by S. Korean media North Korean imports of gasoline increased sharply in September to their highest monthly total since early 2014, data from Chinese customs and the Korea International Trade Association (KITA) show. While South Korea’s Yonhap reported the exports as jet fuel, the shipment was actually classified as “motor/aviation gasoline, without biodiesel.” Gasoline type fuels are distinct from kerosene, ignite at lower temperatures and are not used in jet engines. The UN’s March sanctions on North Korea target both aviation gasoline and kerosene (the main component of jet fuel). “(All) States shall prevent the © Korea Risk Group. All rights reserved. |
