Evergreen North Korean imports of cell phones, electronics fall in 2016Chinese trade figures show fall in cell phone imports since 2014 high North Korean imports of Chinese-made cell phones have so far accounted for the majority of the DPRK’s electronics shipments this year, even though levels remain below 2014 highs, analysis of Chinese customs data shows. The DPRK spent $32 million on Chinese-made cell phones between January and August in 2016, nearly double expenditure on digital LCD TVs, the next most sought after electronic item. But the numbers are well below those seen over the same period two years ago.
