News North Korean cereal imports zero in February: KITAImports are the lowest in four years, though are typically low at the start of the year North Korean imports of cereals – a trade category which includes rice – dropped to zero in February, figures from China’s customs agency show. While DPRK food imports often drop at the beginning of the calendar year, the February number is the lowest since the same month in 2014. The February imports follow on from relatively low levels the previous month, meaning that over the two month period North Korea spent just $108,000 on foreign crops like maize, rice, and corn. Imports of other food categories like flours and milled products also fell by about 60 percent © Korea Risk Group. All rights reserved. |
