North Korea’s revenues from trade with China fell to their lowest levels for eight years in January, continuing a trend that began last year in the wake of successive rounds of UN Security Council (UNSC) sanctions.

The figures, provided by China’s customs agency and collated by the Korea International Trade Association (KITA), put the DPRK’s total January earnings from exports at USD$36,410,820, a more than 80 percent reduction compared to the same month in 2017.

The number is also the lowest monthly total since February 2010, when North Korea earned USD$34 million from its exports
