North Korea said it’s upgrading its energy grid infrastructure and reducing the amount of heavy fuel oil burned at the Pyongyang Thermal Power Complex, according to an article published by the Pyongyang Times yesterday.

The article details numerous advances and research projects underway in the DPRK’s industrial sector, and comes after the signing of an agreement with Russia to revamp the country’s electricity grid.

“The electric power industry focuses on securing hundreds of thousands of reserve kilowatts by establishing a national integrated grid control system, raising the generating efficiency over 1.5 per cent
