New North Korean luxury department store opens in capital after years of delays
Exclusive photos show high-end liquors for sale but little else at renamed Ryugyong Golden Plaza
A major department store project in North Korea previously linked to a Singaporean luxury goods acquisition network has finally opened its doors, photos obtained by NK Pro reveal, though under a different name than originally planned.
Notably, high-end whiskeys and wines are available in at least seven locations throughout the Ryugyong Supermarket, now known as the Ryugyong Golden Plaza, according to analysis of the photos taken in spring and summer 2022. But many shelves and much of the building space appear to be empty.
