Over three dozen North Korean companies and government-affiliated entities are actively registered to do business in Russia, an NK Pro investigation has found, despite international sanctions that ban most DPRK commercial activities overseas.

The 38 entities operate in sectors ranging from information technology to consumer products, and they include one newly registered North Korean trading company and two banks not previously known to operate in Russia, according to a comprehensive NK Pro analysis of data published by Russia’s Federal Tax Service.

Most of the businesses are relatively small company branches that employ 10 workers on average
