Human Rights Council has just approved its fourth special rapporteur on the human rights situation in the DPRK: Dr. Elizabeth Salmón. The first woman to be chosen for the position, the Council’s President selected her from a list of eight applicants ranked by a group of ambassadors from different geographic regions. Salmón will begin Aug. 1 and will serve for a maximum of six years without remuneration.
