News Fabrics top list of North Korea’s imports from China for second month in MayTrade points to Chinese textile outsourcing, while low rice imports may be sign that food shortages have eased North Korea’s imports of fabrics from China surpassed those of human hair for the second consecutive month in May, a sign that Chinese firms are ramping up the outsourcing of textile production to the DPRK. The DPRK imported $21.2 million worth of fabrics from its biggest trading partner in May, up from $17.9 million in April, according to data from Beijing’s General Administration of Customs (GAC) released this week.
