It was the first parade since 2018 to feature prominent foreign dignitaries, as Russian defense minister Sergei Shoigu and Chinese politburo member Li Hongzhong joined North Korean leader Kim Jong Un on the VIP viewing platform. Per usual protocol, Kim saluted and applauded the various Korean People’s Army units that passed through Kim Il Sung Square.
