Progress was made last week towards new North Korea sanctions legislation on the hill. The bill, H.R. 3898, aims to further cut off North Korean firms and individuals from the U.S. financial system and instructs the Treasury to oppose assistance to governments that are falling short on implementing sanctions against the DPRK. The new sanctions package easily passed a House vote (415 for and 2 against) on Tuesday and has been referred to the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations.
