Six months of official UN figures on North Korea’s oil product imports show drastic reductions in volume, with shipments falling to levels which not only low by the DPRK’s standards but which also appear untenable for a country of 25 million people.

UN resolutions passed last year aimed to curb the DPRK’s refined and crude oil imports, placing quotas on deliveries to the North and requiring member states to report their shipments to the UN’s 1718 Committee.
