The North Korean navy launched its first-ever destroyer in a lavish ceremony at Nampho on Friday, showcasing an extensive armament suite that suggests nothing short of a DPRK maritime revolution is now at hand.

Christened the Choe Hyon, the destroyer is one of two such vessels that have been under construction on either coast over the past year, and it far outstrips any previous North Korean naval project with a length of some 142 meters (466 feet) and a claimed displacement of 5,000 metric tons.
