Two Italian brothers known for their provocative battles against Big Tobacco and international law enforcement traveled to Pyongyang this month to pitch cigarette production line machinery to North Korean buyers, an NK Pro investigation has found, potentially in violation of U.N. and EU sanctions.

Carlo and Giampaolo Messina appeared on DPRK state television last week inside the booth for their company Eata Ltd. at this year’s Pyongyang Autumn International Trade Fair, promising to be the “one supplier for complete cigarette lines” to North Korean partners.
