Official trade between North Korea and China rose to the highest level in four months in August, as goods related to wig production continued to lead bilateral exchange.

The total commercial volume of trade between the two countries reached $191.1 million in August, according to official data from China’s General Administration of Customs, up from $181.6 million in July and reversing a four-month downward trend.

The DPRK’s imports increased for the third consecutive month in August to $162.9 million. Its exports to China jumped to $28.2 million, remaining below a five-year high of $34.2 million registered in April
