In recent weeks, North Korean state media has been full of reports that give the impression that the DPRK is preparing for war with South Korea.

Leader Kim Jong Un conducted two separate factory tours in August linked to the mass production of short-range weapon systems designed for use against South Korea. Between these tours, Kim also convened military officials to discuss “offensive” battle plans and “major military actions” against the ROK, going as far to order “full preparations for war.”

Together, the developments may appear to be indicators of aggressive intent toward South Korea
