North Korean state media this week announced that the Standing Committee of the Supreme People’s Assembly (SPA) held a meeting to adopt laws and decrees that attempt to rein in market forces in the country’s food industry and crack down on private capital. 

The top body also “unanimously” gave the go-ahead for a rubber-stamp legislative meeting next month. Domestic reports hinted that the state will enhance control over the people and promote Kim family ideology by adopting a new law on the “correct” vocabulary and dialect that all North Koreans should use.
