North Korean-staffed businesses in the Chinese border city of Dandong have either shut down, had DPRK managers replaced, or been replaced with Chinese businesses entirely, pictures and information collected by NK Pro in January has shown.

The changes – implemented ahead of the December 22, 2019 United Nations-mandated deadline for DPRK workers to go home – suggest Chinese authorities in Dandong are mostly complying with sanctions designed to stop Pyongyang’s ability to raise cash overseas.
