Analysis What to make of ongoing activity at North Korea’s Yeongjeo-dong missile baseA new report underscores Pyongyang's continued investment in its strategic weapons program Satellite images collected and analyzed by a group of researchers at the Monterey, California, based Center for Nonproliferation Studies (CNS)—reported by CNN on Wednesday—offer insights into two sites in North Korea almost certainly associated with the Korean People’s Army (KPA) Strategic Force. First, the long-known Yeongjeo-dong/Yeongjeo-ri missile base has undergone refurbishment, expansion, and upgrading. Second—and more interestingly—the researchers identify a nearby site “just seven miles away” that appears to have been previously undetected, at least in open sources.
