The hydroelectricity power plants are part of the UNFCCC’s suite of Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) projects, green enterprises which once operational generate Certified Emission Reduction units (CERs). Once a project is up and running, the UNFCCC can issue the CERs which in turn can be traded in carbon markets and exchanges.
