Analysis North Korean ship visits to Chinese bulk ports becoming more regularEach DPRK vessel has links to illicit behavior, sanctioned entities Several of North Korea’s cargo vessels appear to be resuming regular traffic to Chinese ports capable of handling sanctioned commodities like coal and iron, the NK Pro ship tracker shows. Previous NK Pro reports highlighted the uptick in visits to two ports in northeastern China, and the trend seems to have continued throughout September and start of October. In most cases, the DPRK-flagged ships appear on tracking systems off North Korea’s western coast, though one vessel has also come from an unadvertised location on the other side of the Korean Peninsula.
