Construction of a new hotel on the unfinished site of an abandoned Chinese-backed shopping mall in Pyongyang appears to have restarted, photos obtained by NK Pro in May shows.

“East Pyongyang hotel and industrial building division panorama,” says a new artistic design of the finished building posted outside the site in the May photos.

The new artistic design looks almost identical to a previous architectural mock-up posted there, suggesting the original Chinese project backers could still be linked to the site or that the new backers have simply decided to use their plans.
