China tripled its oil product shipments to North Korea in May, the latest data reported to the UN 1718 Committee shows, though exports remained below historic levels.

December’s UN Resolution 2397 saw the international body place limits on fuel exports to the DPRK, and, though the measures contain humanitarian exceptions, shipments of oil products and especially fuels have dwindled in the intervening months.

The resolution also requires member states to report their oil product shipments to the 1718 Committee every 30 days, which are then posted on a website created for the purpose of tracking the exports.[/p
