While not all countries have compiled their annual trade numbers, most of North Korea’s major trade partners have published their yearly figures, which often show drops in demand for the DPRK’s goods. Successive rounds of UN sanctions have limited North Korea’s export options, whittling away at the money the DPRK can earn from sending once high-earning raw materials like coal and iron abroad.
