North Korea’s exports of iron to neighboring China remained relatively constant in August, data from Beijing’s General Administration of Customs shows, with no sudden surges ahead of a UN-led ban on the commodity.

New UN measures passed in August will prohibit member states from importing several DPRK metals and minerals, including coal, lead, and iron: formerly some of the North’s most valuable exports.

At 143,343 tonnes, the August numbers were slightly lower than the previous month, though the drop was not large, but the North Korean export should be the last with China
