North Korean media recently highlighted a new solar panel manufacturing facility, which is reportedly working in conjunction with Pyongyang’s Kim Il Sung university to both develop and manufacture solar panels in the DPRK.

The footage appears to show both the research and construction elements of the production process. If accurate, the domestic production would go against a general consensus among North Korea watchers that solar panels – like many of the DPRK’s technological products – are shipped in from China.
