North Korean leader Kim Jong Un was featured in DPRK media this week, photographed with the construction workers of the recently completed Mount Paekdu hydro power project.

The new plant is unlikely to be operational, but external work on one part of the structure is complete, a project which by some estimates has spent 20 years in the pipeline.

Despite not yet producing any electricity, the Paektusan Hero Youth Power Station is still, however included on a diagram of North Korea’s electricity grid which stands in Pyongyang’s Three Revolutions Exhibition, and has done so
