Analysis Consumer goods among top North Korean importsElectronics including TVs, cell phones and laptops big imports from China in 2014 North Korea spent more on importing electronics and machinery from China than on any other kind of import, according to Chinese customs data. Findings included that consumer goods, like LCD TVs, computers and phones were among the most valuable individual items shipped to the DPRK in 2014. In total, North Korea spent nearly $1 billion on importing machinery, vehicles and electronics, outpacing shipments of other product groups like minerals and metals, textiles and food products.
