President Donald Trump said Monday that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un responded positively to his praise of their relationship and orders to substantially reduce the U.S.’s military drills with South Korea. 

Asked by reporters if Kim had responded to Trump’s overtures made in a social media post the previous day, the president said Kim “has,” adding that the response was “very positive.” 

Trump did not disclose details about Kim’s purported response. North Korean state media did not report on Trump’s remarks Tuesday.
