Russian aircraft lands in North Korea before departing after just two hours

Military plane’s stopover marks first confirmed flight from Russia this year, one month after another jet’s secret trip

A Russian military aircraft landed at North Korea’s main airport over the weekend, aviation data shows, a month after another foreign jet made a clandestine flight to the DPRK’s capital.

The Ilyushin Il-62M operated by the Russian Air Force departed from the Chkalovsky military airbase near Moscow on Friday, marking the first confirmed Russian flight to the DPRK this year. It made a brief stopover in Vladivostok on Saturday and landed at Pyongyang’s Sunan International Airport the same day, Flightradar24 records show.
