Why Ukraine’s footage of North Korean POWs puts them and their families at risk

Human rights experts warn DPRK could retaliate against soldiers if their identities become known

Ukraine has heavily publicized its capture of two North Korean soldiers this month, releasing photos and videos of their interrogations as definitive proof that DPRK troops are fighting on the Russian side.

But Kyiv’s decision to reveal the identities of the soldiers has also raised ethnical concerns, with human rights experts warning that the move could put the two prisoners of war and even their family members at risk.
