Donald Trump wins US election, setting stage for North Korea policy shift

Victory marks return to power of president who held two summits with Kim Jong Un, but unclear if DPRK open to diplomacy

Former President Donald Trump has won the U.S. 2024 presidential election, setting the stage for a sea change in North Korea policy and possible resumption of personal diplomacy with DPRK leader Kim Jong Un.

Trump claimed victory in a speech in Florida, while world leaders flocked to congratulate the former president. CNN, The Associated Press, The New York Times and other outlets declared Trump the winner, and Vice President Kamala Harris conceded later Wednesday.
