Sanctions exemptions allow UNICEF and FAO to ship items through next year, though aid workers still unable to return

UNICEF and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) have received new sanctions exemptions to send health care and agricultural equipment to North Korea, U.N. records show.

The U.N. Security Council’s 1718 Sanctions Committee has granted UNICEF an exemption until Sept. 23, 2025 to send medical equipment and vehicles valued at some $1.6 million.
