North Korea reports fifth test of upgraded 240mm rocket system this year

State media revealed intended maximum range of the system for the first time in launch aimed at testing accuracy

North Korea test-fired 240mm “controllable multiple rocket launcher shells” on Tuesday, according to state media, in what appears to be the fifth test of this multiple launch rocket system (MLRS) this year.

The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) published a three-line report on Wednesday stating the rockets flew a “maximum range” of 41.6 miles (67 km) and that the test was overseen by the DPRK Academy of Defence Sciences.
