South Korea’s foreign minister said North Korea’s arms exports to Russia in breach of sanctions are a prime example of the “limitations” of the U.N. Security Council (UNSC) on Wednesday, calling for a greater focus on multilateralism to overcome the body’s divisions.
During an open debate on “leadership for peace” on the sidelines of the ongoing U.N. General Assembly session, Cho Tae-yul criticized the Security Council for failing to adopt even a single resolution in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine despite mounting civilian casualties.
