Yoon slams calls to abandon unification with North Korea as ‘unconstitutional’

South Korean president says seeking coexistence between separate Korean states would actually increase security risks

South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol has denounced opposition politicians' calls to abandon unification with North Korea as “unconstitutional,” insisting that accepting the existence of two Korean states would be dangerous for regional security.

While he did not name names, Yoon deemed the "sudden" shift in stance on reunification among figures from the previous Moon Jae-in administration as “incomprehensible,” speaking during a cabinet meeting on Tuesday.
