Dutch minister warns of ‘domino effect’ if ROK goes nuclear to deter North Korea

Defense chief says Seoul and partners should pursue nonproliferation, but says decision on nukes is up to South Korea

South Korea and its international partners should work together to deter aggressors like North Korea within the “framework” of nuclear nonproliferation, the Netherlands’ defense chief said Tuesday, responding to the growing debate in Seoul about whether to go nuclear.

“The position of the Netherlands has been for decades, of course, that we advocate for nonproliferation of nuclear weapons. And that's also what my position would be,” Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans said during an interview in Seoul.
