North Korean crosses DMZ into South in second suspected defection this month

ROK military says it's investigating individual’s intention to defection, while media reports he’s a staff sergeant

A North Korean crossed the heavily fortified inter-Korean border on Tuesday, according to the ROK military, marking the second likely defection into South Korea in a month.

“Our military has secured custody of an unidentified person presumed to be a North Korean individual on the eastern frontline and has handed them over to the relevant authorities,” the South Korean military announced in a statement.
