The Paris Games drew to a close on Sunday with a grand finale in which Hollywood star Tom Cruise symbolically took the Olympic flag for Los Angeles, setting the stage for the first Olympics in the U.S. in almost three decades.

And while it’s far from clear whether North Korea will be willing to participate in the 2028 Games hosted by a “hostile” enemy state, it would not be the first time that DPRK Olympians competed in the U.S.
